Canine Creatures Revisited

Day 14 (Sat, Nov 26) All ICW today. We set out from Moorehead City to Surf City (Surf City Marina). Fairly tedious ICW run with Patrick driving and me using the laptop and Polar Navy. Uneventful until the very end. Laptop ran out of power. I had to switch to his iPad. Then, somehow literally in the last 50 feet, we turned right instead of left and grounded Gaia. Pretty decent grounding this time but still in soft stuff. Luckily a very nice man came up that had been out all day getting oysters in a small open boat. Small boat but serious engine on the craft. He looked just like I imagine my Grandpa Replogle looked when he was younger. Striking similarity. A few tugs and we were back in a “floating state.” Dobbie had to revisit his deep rooted feeling about the lesser species (coyote creatures) because the boat that saved us was captained by a border collie. We have all had our revelations on this trip. Got into the marina after our grounding and had a nice evening. Walked through the little town over to the beach and had a nice “steamer pot” of goodies. Walked back to the boat and had a quiet evening planning tomorrow’s leg.
