Thanksgiving & The Best Shower Ever

Day 10, 11 and 12 (Tues, Wed, Thurs, Nov 22, 23, 24): Today was the day we met up with Bill and Judy on their Whitby, Janus. We left early. It was beautiful. Some light fog that was burning off around daybreak. Pinks, purples and grays… all blending together.

The trip to Broad Creek (River Dunes Marina) close to Oriental, NC was not too bad. We had to stay focused in places but overall a fairly easy day. Met up with Bill and Judy. We anchored near Janus.  Patrick launched the Kracken (our dinghy) and he and Bill went for a ride to investigate the marinas.  Bill and Judy came over for dinner and drinks. Very nice evening. We discussed the weather and determined that we needed to stay put for the next couple of days due to weather. Wednesday morning we decided to move Gaia into the marina. We needed to do laundry and Patrick said the marina was nice based on his excursion the previous day. Wow, is all I can say. River Dunes is amazing and literally the best showers I have ever seen. 6 heads, seam rooms, perfectly set up… it was pure luxury. And heading south so late, it seemed like the entire marina was exclusively ours. No one was around. We hot tubbed, showered and took it easy. Very nice couple of days. On Thanksgiving, I cooked… full dinner. Cooking on Gaia is fun and for some reason, things really taste good on her. We had: homemade Dutch egg noodles, sweet potatoes, roast turkey breast, pumpkin pie, gravy and dressing. Oh, and fried okra for Patrick. Yummm.
